We got tired of Googling "best cloud cost tool" and landing on listicles written by vendors about themselves. So we built the site we wished existed.

We research, test, and evaluate FinOps tools based on real-world workload scenarios. When we recommend a tool, it's based on technical merit — not vendor relationships. Our editorial team has hands-on experience across AWS, Azure, and GCP, and we test every tool we review on real infrastructure before publishing.

How we test and rate tools

01 / Real workloads

We test tools on actual AWS, Azure, and GCP environments — not sandboxes. Savings numbers in our reviews reflect real workloads, not vendor demos.

02 / Minimum 30 days

We run tools for at least 30 days before publishing a review. Cloud cost patterns require time to evaluate properly — anomalies, edge cases, and support quality all emerge over weeks, not hours.

03 / Six rating criteria

Every tool is rated on: savings delivered, implementation complexity, pricing transparency, support quality, multi-cloud breadth, and long-term ROI. Weighted by category relevance.

04 / Updated annually

Cloud tools evolve rapidly. We revisit every review at least once a year and update ratings when products change significantly. Publish date is always visible.

How we stay independent

Affiliate commissions never influence rankings.

We may earn a commission when you sign up for a tool via our links. The commission rate has zero correlation with our rating. A tool that pays us $500/referral ranked below a tool that pays $50 because the cheaper tool delivered better results.

Vendors cannot pay to appear in our rankings, have reviews written about them, or influence our editorial calendar. All reviewed products are selected by our editorial team based on market relevance.

Negative findings are published.

If a tool doesn't deliver its promised savings, we say so — with data. If a vendor's pricing is opaque or their support is poor, that's in the review. We don't soften negative findings because a vendor is an affiliate partner.

How FinOpsForge makes money

FinOpsForge earns revenue through affiliate referral commissions. When you click a link to a tool on our site and subsequently sign up or purchase, we may receive a commission from the tool vendor — at no additional cost to you.

This is how we fund independent testing, server costs, and editorial time. Without affiliate revenue, honest independent reviews of enterprise software would require venture funding or paywalls — neither of which we want.
